Hi Love ✿

Thank you for landing on our story page. I'm Sweety, (yes, that's my real name!), lovingly called “Taru” at home and the person behind Cotton Co.

I'm Indian by heritage (although you might be a little surprised when you see my photo!) Australia, Queensland specifically, is now home. And living somewhere with so much sunshine and warm weather has only made my love for natural fibres, especially cotton, stronger.

I'm honestly the biggest customer of my own products, haha, because I'm OBSESSED with cotton! I've always wanted everyday pieces that feel good on the skin, look beautiful, and feel like a better choice for the environment too and that's exactly what I love about cotton.

For a long time, I was ok wandering around, checking fabric tags and looking for cotton pieces. But slowly, the options got fewer and even when I did find something, they often came in colours that felt a little too dull for me. I'm a believer in “colours can change your mood.” be it a rainy day, a grey day or bright sunshine - a little touch of vibrant colour around you can make such a difference.

So, I suppose I created Cotton Co for myself first :p

As an artsy, crafty person myself, “handmade” will always have a special place in my heart. That love eventually led me back to something very close to my roots - traditional Indian hand block printing. Cotton Co is my little way of bringing together the best of both worlds: the craft and colour of where I come from, with the relaxed, sunny spirit of where I now call home.

Our pieces are made in small quantities, thoughtfully chosen and created to be loved, used and enjoyed.
